Snoring/Sleep Apnea

Snoring can be aggravating to members of your family. Sleep Apnea can be life threatening, depending on the severity.

There are multiple methods of treatment. All have various degrees of success.

Soft Tissue (Palate) Surgery

This has very limited success in my experience (about 20%).

C-PAP

A device (mask) that fits over the face and is worn during sleep. This causes the positive flow of oxygen through the nose and mouth. It can be very effective, but many patients complain that it is uncomfortable.

Jaw surgery

Surgery which brings both upper and lower jaws forward in order to increase airway. This too is very successful, but is a major surgery.

Oral Appliances

Appliances worn at night, which brings the lower jaw and tongue into a more forward position to increase airway. These have different degrees of success.

Our office has been using a particular appliance that has very few, if any, side effects.

  • Snoring can be stopped 95% of the time.
  • Sleep apnea reduced significantly or completely almost 80% of the time.
